
BY RENU MEHTA, TORONTO: The Toronto International Film festival (TIFF) presented over 250 films from September 8 to 18, 2022 from across the world. Some of the biggest names in film walked the red carpet in Toronto including Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Nandita Das, Shekhar Kapur, Shabana Azmi and Viola Davis amongst others. The span of films entertained film lovers who arrived from across the globe.
Of the 252 films screening at this year’s Festival, 63 were first features; 37% were directed by women; 38% were directed by BIPOC directors; and 15% were directed by 2SLGBTQ+ directors.

First Runner-up: Ti West’s Pearl
