“Markham is proud of its active Arts community. Organizations such as the Markham Arts Council contribute to the promotion of local and upcoming artists and in creating a vibrant and integrated cultural community, says Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Honorary Chair of the Fundraising Gala. ”Events such as “An Affair With the Arts at the Oscars” Gala will enable the Markham Arts Council to continue with their great work in supporting the arts”.
This year’s event is expected to have several dignitaries, guests, local businesses and artists as well as others who support this cause.
“Last year’s Inaugural Gala was a great success attended by more than 400 dignitaries and guests. We raised more than $20,000 at the Gala and look forward to a positive event this year also”, says Deepti Aurora, co- chair of the Gala Committee who has raised thousands of dollars for charitable initiatives including AWIC, Lions Club as well as the Scarborough Hospital.
“These funds will go a long way in stimulating and supporting the arts that are a manifestation of creativity and diversity. This will support Markham’s leadership as one of Canada’s most diverse cities where there is a huge cultivation of the cross cultural art forms.”
