
BY MANSI MEHTA, TORONTO: Indian director Karan Boolani is all set to premiere his sex-positive comedy Thank You For Coming at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The upcoming film, produced by Balaji Telefilms Limited and Anil Kapoor Film Communication Network Pvt. Ltd, has recently unveiled its first look.
Set against the backdrop of modern relationships and self-discovery, Thank You for Coming is headlined by Bhumi Pednekar accompanied by an array of actors including Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, and Shibani Bedi. At the heart of the narrative, lies Kanika Kapoor’s journey, portrayed by Bhumi Pednekar, as she navigates her 30s in search of genuine love and fulfilment. The film’s tagline is “Rise. Rebel. Repeat.”
“It is a very progressive film with its heart in the right place. This is our chance to show the world how cinema in India is celebrating and portraying women of today,” says Pednekar describing the film’s take on the modern woman.

The cast also features Pradhuman Singh Mall, Natasha Rastogi, Gautmik, Sushant Divgikar, Saloni Daini, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Karan Kundrra. Pednekar, revealing the first look of the film on Instagram, declared, “Let the kalesh begin! See you in Toronto!”
Shehnaaz added her own flair, stating, “Kaccha pyaar, Kaminapan aur Kalesh in the biggest chick flick of the year!!!! See you in Toronto!”
The film also features a guest appearance from Anil Kapoor. The actor took to his Instagram to share details about the film’s premiere at TIFF.

Under the direction of Karan Boolani, known for directing the Indian Netflix show Selection Day, along with the collaborative efforts of writers Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh, the film explores themes of womanhood, sexuality, authenticity, happiness, and personal growth and is being touted by the director as a film that marks the ‘comeback of the chick flick.’
Thank You for Coming will be presented at TIFF on September 15 at Roy Thomson Hall.
